Attention Parents

Troop 10 needs your help! The only way for us to offer a wide variety of merit badges is for YOU to share your time and experience in an area of interest. Please review the list of merit badges with no counselor and choose one or two that you can be a counselor for. The "eagle-required" badges (asterisked) are particularly important.

You can find the latest badge requirements on line at meritbadge.org along with helpful worksheets, links, etc.  Each badge also has a printed merit badge booklet available at the Council store or we may have a copy in the Troop library.

You can find a guide for Merit Badge counseling here and download an orientation sheet here.

To get started, you must first take online Youth Protection Training. Then contact Peggy Pelosi to get registered with BSA and attach the Merit Badge Counselor Information Form.

Merit badges are an important aspect of the scouting program. There are currently over a hundred different merit badges allowing a scout to learn about a very wide variety of sports, crafts, arts, sciences, trades, etc. A small subset of these are "Eagled Required" meaning they are required for advancement to Star, Life, and Eagle Scout ranks. The latest list of merit badges and their requirements can be found at: www.meritbadge.org.

Important: Merit badges are not self-study. All merit badges must be worked on with a registered merit badge counselor. The first step is to ask the Scoutmaster to sign a merit badge "blue card" and refer you to a merit badge counselor.
