Philmont 2018

Philmont Scout Ranch is the Boy Scouts of America's largest national High Adventure Base. Its 34 staffed camps and 55 trail camps provide an unforgettable adventure in the high country along hundreds of miles of rugged, rocky trails.

Washington Crossing Council is planning a 12-day trek in 2018 at Philmont Scout Ranch on August 3-15, 2018. The Philmont Scout Ranch contingent will travel out to Philmont one or two days before the trek and wil return to the Greater Philadelphia Area on August 15th.

Youth Requirements for Philmont A youth must be 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and completed the 8th grade by date of participation. Youth must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America.

Fees - approximately $2,300 (depending on travel/airfare).

Signup deadline is April 25.

Assistant Scoutmaster Training

Washington Crossing Council is offering the two training courses required by all Assistant Scoutmasters.

Scoutmaster & Assistant SM Position-Specific Training: This course will provide Scoutmasters with the basic information and tools they need to lead successful Boy Scout troops. It will be offered at Camp Ockanickon on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6:00pm to 10:30pm.

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS): Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. It will be offered at Camp Ockanickon on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 7:00am to Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 1:00pm.

There is a second opportunity for IOLS on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 5:30pm to Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 6:00pm.

We meet at the church for all camping trips on Friday at 5:30pm unless otherwise noted. Scouts should bring dinner or money for a fast food stop. Boys are dropped off at their homes on Sunday morning.

Troop Calendar

Troop Meetings are every Thursday from 7:30-9:00pm at Yardley United Methodist Church, 300 Langhorne-Yardley Road. Troop Committee meetings are the first Wednesday of each month, 7:30-8:30pm.
